If you are a dwarf or considered a little person then we are pleased to announce that there are certain scholarships specifically available to you. This page will be focusing solely on those scholarship opportunities. However, before we get into that we do feel that it is important to define what a “little person” is. Lately there has been some confusion on to what a little person is.
Dwarfism is commonly linked with a number of birth defects. Dwarfism is pretty rare and many forms have been connected with a number of gene anomalies. Now, our main focus of this page isn’t meant to bore you with dwarfism definitions. Instead, it is meant to impress you with our knowledge of the scholarships available for little people.
Scholarships For Dwarfs
Currently there are two foundations that hand out scholarships to little people. Each foundation is legitimate and well respected. Now, there is one thing that you have to understand about applying for these types of scholarships. It isn’t as simple as filling out a scholarship application and crossing your fingers. There are certain conditions that have to be met in order to be even considered for these scholarships or grants. Lets take a look at those two popular foundations, their scholarships and their requirements below.
Little People Of America- Pretty self explanatory as far as the foundation goes. It is meant to serve the common good for the little people. The foundation does this in a number of different ways such as offering scholarships and providing information on the dwarfism condition. In order to be eligible to obtain a scholarship you are required to do a number of things outlined in the link we provided to you.
Billy Barton Foundation- If you are shorter than 4’10″ then you can be eligible for the Billy Barton Foundation scholarship worth over $1,000. The foundation itself was created in honor of Billy Barty one of the most influential little people in the world. Barty stood 3’9″ but that didn’t stop him from finding success as a television actor. Barty is probably best known for working to create the Little People Of America foundation mentioned above.
